Climate change and urbanisation are two of the most pressing global challenges facing us in the 21st century. The negative effects of heat waves, floods and landslides are experienced in many cities around the globe and are having a devastating effect on the livelihoods of the most vulnerable people in these cities. How can city planners, local authorities, engineers, architects and academics work together in rethinking urban development to fulfill the dual task of promoting global climate protection and local climate adaptation. Four of the SMUS scholarship holders were invited to give an intervention at a Futurium event in Berlin and share their stories of how climate change is affecting their world region.
