  1. When will the “3rd International and Interdisciplinary Conference on Spatial Methods for Urban Sustainability (‘SMUS Conference‘) & 2nd RC33 Regional Conference Asia, India in cooperation with ESA RN21 ‘Quantitative Methods’“ take place?
  • The conference will take place from Monday, 20th February, 2023 to Sunday, 26th February, 2023.
  1. Will the conference program be held online, offline or in a hybrid manner?
  • The conference program will be offline at IIT Roorkee, India.
  1. How much does it cost the participation in the conference?
  • There is no conference fee.
  1. What will be the official language for the presentations?
  • English will be the official language for sessions and lectures.

  1. How can I upload my Abstract?
  • You can upload your abstract by following the steps below:
  1. Go to the SMUS page, click on the “Conferences” tab.
  2. In the Conferences dropdown menu, click on “2023: INDIA”
  3. You should click on the “Calls and Announcements” section.
  4. This will open the page for “Open Calls” where you can select “Submit your Abstract Here” and you will be directed to the page where you can enter all the data.

 

  1. How do I know the final date for submitting an abstract/full paper?
  • The final date for the submission of abstracts has been extended till 13th October 2022 (12:00 PM IST), though we would encourage early submission.
  1. If the conference is not at my country, do you provide visa issuing?
  • We can help with issuing the visa by sending a visa letter to the participant and the corresponding embassy/consulate to facilitate the visa issuing but we do not issue it by ourselves.
  1. Does SMUS INDIA provide accommodation and food services?
  • Food services will be provided to conference guests but the accommodation will only be provided to funded participants.
  1. Does IIT Roorkee offer currency exchange facilities?
  • No, you can avail currency exchange facilities at the New Delhi Airport.
  1. What is the weather like in Roorkee during February?
  • The average temperature in Roorkee during February typically ranges from a high of 75°F (24°C) and a low of 50°F (10°C). Some would describe it as mildly cool with a gentle breeze. There’s a 10% chance of rain on an average day. And on the average day it rains, we get 0.00 in (0.1 mm) of precipitation. In more common terms of how much that is, some would describe it as not rainy at all.
  1. How do we reach Roorkee?
  • There are two airports near Roorkee, the first is Dehradun which is 70km away and the second is New Delhi which is around 180km away. If you are an international traveller, we advise you to use Delhi airport. Buses and trains ply from Delhi to Roorkee every day. You can avail A/C bus services from ISBT Kashmere Gate, ISBT Anand Vihar and Ghaziabad, that reaches within 4 hours. In case you choose to travel by train, the best train would be the Shatabdi express which takes a minimum of 4 hours, starting at 6:45 AM and reaches Roorkee at 10:59 AM. You need to book tickets in Indian Railways at least a month prior for seat confirmation.
  • A taxi or cab is always an open option. Uber and Ola outstation cab services are easily available from Delhi Airport.
  1. When will the participants receive the acceptance mail for the conference?
  • The mail for acceptance of abstract for the conference will be sent out by the end of October to the participants. The participant will then need to register on the website for attending and presenting their paper at the conference. The registration link will be made live by the end of October on the website.
