Researching accessibility remains a critical concept for evolving inclusive urban futures. Accessibility is a means to achieve human inclusion in various aspects of urban living. This includes aspects of built environment, mobility and design of products and spaces for diverse sections of society. Population of persons with disabilities, children, elderly, women, transgender etc. remain crucial elements of human inclusion in these settings. Global south paradigms including that of India see a high potential for advancing research on accessibility from diverse standpoints furthering the goal of social inclusion. Spanning between laboratory centric to field centric research, this domain is still in its want for evolved methodologies ranging from visual methods to mixed method approaches. This session invites abstracts or publications from relevant sectors and researchers that focus on development or application of distinct research methods or tools for advancing research in domains of accessibility and social inclusion. This may include thematic areas at the intersection of four key aspects of inclusion i.e. Age, Ability, Gender and Economic paradigms. Some of the preferred thematic areas would be: (a) Universal Design for Urban Futures. (b) Child Friendly Urban Environments (c) Gender Inclusion in public spaces (d) Accessibility Research Methods in Cross Cultural Contexts (d) Social Inclusion and Public Sanitation (e) Enabling Environments for age friendly neighbourhoods (f) Measuring Accessibility and Inclusion in diverse social contexts.
