Syllabus:
Indigenous memory is intrinsically linked to the bond of the past with the future, and to the relationship of the individual with the collectivity. In an analogous sense, the making of an artistic object is related both to the individual knowledge and skills of the indigenous artist, and to knowledge and narratives that, in the resulting artistic object, cohere with a collective knowledge. The course will discuss this relationship between individuality and collectivity in Guarani society, focusing on both memory and the artistic forms through which these knowledges are expressed through the body and language, always taking into account cosmology and mores.
Ementa:
A memória indígena está intrinsecamente ligada ao vínculo do passado com o futuro, e à relação do indivíduo com a coletividade. Em sentido análogo, o fazer de um objeto artístico está relacionado tanto ao conhecimento e às aptidões individuais do artista indígena, quanto a conhecimentos e narrativas que, no objeto artístico resultante, se coadunam com um conhecimento coletivo. O curso irá discutir essa relação entre individualidade e coletividade na sociedade guarani, com foco tanto na memória quanto nas formas artísticas pelas quais essas sabedorias se expressam através do corpo e da língua, sempre levando em conta a cosmologia e costumes.
