Biography: Dr. Latang Sechele is a Sociologist. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Sociology & Public Administration, University of Botswana), Master of Arts in Sociology of Development and PhD in Sociology (University of Essex). He is currently working as a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Botswana. Dr Sechele has over 25 years of experience working as a researcher and academic in government and parastatals. As a researcher, he has been involved in undertaking research on youth labour market studies, poverty and the social impact of development policy in Botswana. In association with the private sector, he has participated in the design of settlement strategies for District and Urban Councils as well as surveys that contributed to preparation of and evaluation of economic development and spatial plans at district levels. One of the highlights is the Review and Preparation of Mogoditshane PIII Road Corridor Local Plan (Mogoditshane-Thamaga Sub-District Council) in Association with Land Plan Consult (PTY) LTD and RICALL Investments (PTY) LTD. The plan was approved by the Minister of Land Management and Sanitation Services in July 2020. Since 2000 Dr Sechele has taught theory, research methodology and data analysis courses at the university of Botswana. He is a member of Organization of Social Science Research in East and Southern Africa (OSSREA) Botswana Chapter and University of Botswana Institutional Research Board (IRB).
